Donations to support STEM classes in Simpson Co.

Herman Duckworth, Plant Superintendent for SEMPRA’s Mississippi Hub, LLC., a gas storage facility in Magee, MS, presented a check for $15,000 to Superintendent Glenn Harris of the Simpson County School District. The funds will be used to support technology in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) classes taught at Magee High School and the Simpson County Technical Center. The Magee Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony Feb. 24 at The Girlie Boutique.

The new store is located at 501 8th Ave. SW. The ribbon cutting is set for 1 p.m.

5th graders to create bicycling poster

5th graders to create bicycling poster

A national contest is offering 5th graders the chance to win a bike, bike light, and helmet. During the 2013 Bicycling Poster Contest, 5th grade students must create a poster around the theme "Bicycling makes life better."  The purpose of the contest is to promote youth riding bicycles as a way to lead a healthy lifestyle.

One winner will be selected from each state to receive a bike, bike light, and helmet.

The Magee Christmas Parade is set for Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 6 p.m.

Magee Veterans Day Celebration

The City of Magee and the Magee Chamber of Commerce will host the city’s 2nd annual Veterans Day celebration Monday.

The event will start with a parade at 10:30 a.m. from the Magee Library on First Street, past the high school on Fifth Avenue, by the middle school and then on Main Street back to the library.

A ceremony will be held on the steps of the Community House at 11 a.m.
