Father killed, son injured in domestic dispute

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Simpson County authorities say a domestic dispute between a father and son left one dead and the other injured.

It happened shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday at a home on Baldwin Road south of Magee.

The Simpson County Sheriff's Department chief investigator says 38-year-old Jimmy Dennis Jr., was pronounced dead at Magee Hospital.

His son, 20-year-old Don Dakota Dennis, is being treated at a Jackson hospital.

Magee men accused of robbing store with police chief outside

Two Simpson County men are in custody after New Hebron Police Chief George Walker foiled an armed robbery attempt Wednesday night.

According to authorities with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office the two men may also be linked to a recent rash of business hold ups in Simpson County.

Charles Martez James, 23, and Denzale Sandifer, 17, both of Magee, are behind bars in connection with the attempted armed robbery of the 43 Food Mart in New Hebron.

Both are accused of ambushing store owners just after 9:30 Wednesday night with firearms.

School bus safety crackdown

SIMPSON COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - Less than one week after Richland ten year-old Allen Lutrick was hit and killed after getting off on his school bus, state troopers say they want to make sure drivers pay close attention when driving near a bus. Troopers say you can expect to see more of them on the road, so they want you to beware.

Six Simpson Co. residents face charges in beating death

SMITH COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - Smith County sheriff's deputies have made three more arrests in connection with the beating death of 21-year-old Jessie Beech.

Danny Holt, Jr., Joseph Chace and Waylon Hoover, all of Simpson County, are charged with Aggravated Assault in connection with Beech's death.

Sheriff Charlie Crumpton says Tazah Hosey, 18, Bronson James, 34, and Koda Williamson, 26, are all charged with murder.

Suspect sought in armed robbery

The Madison Police Department is investigating an armed robbery at the Kroger at Colony Crossing Tuesday. A suspect in the incident has been seen in neighboring counties.

According to a police report, a black male who drives a greet Chevrolt Trailblazer SUV is a suspect in the incident. The man has been in the Crystal Springs, Hazelhurst, McComb and Hammond, La., area since the robbery.
