We’ve all seen garden gnomes in other people’s yards -- the creatures of woodland legend that represent the spirit of the earth. Maybe it’s time you put one in your own garden.

SIMPSON COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - The mysterious animal killed in Simpson county is creating quite a stir. The property owner who discovered it, suspected it was a Chupacabra, an undocumented animal with origins in Mexico. Truitt Barnard says, "Strangest animal I've ever seen. I've been hunting 50 years."

The animal closely resembles the mysterious Chupacabra, hairless, long snout, and hind legs, but what is it really? We asked Jackson vet Troy Majure about this unusual four legged thing.

Strange creature killed in Simpson County

SIMPSON COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - A Simpson County man says he’s been hunting for 50 years, but recently killed something that he's never seen before.

“It’s an ugly looking beast,” Truitt Barnard, said. “I know it’s not a coyote. I’ve killed some mangy coyotes too, and I just haven’t seen something quite like it. “

Friend and family believe this could be a Chupacabra, which literally means goat sucker. Chupacabras are a legendary creature suspected of killing livestock and sucking their blood.
